Sustainable Brand Recommendations
With so many brands out in the market it can be hard and confusing to navigate which of them are sustainable and which are only claiming to be for performative reasons. The sheer number of stores available is overwhelming. Nowadays the demand for sustainably made fashion is more prominent than ever as more and more people are becoming increasingly aware of their environmental foot print and are being continuously exposed to the detrimental effects of climate change and the volume of clothing being disposed of in landfills. However the responsibility cannot be placed solely on consumers, companies must review and improve their practices and values. Of course brands can’t magically become sustainable the next day or even the next week however researching and planning a method in which they can use to recycle their deadstock and material scraps to minimise waste could be a start. Or even sourcing organic or sustainably produced textiles, to create a responsible supply chain. As well as switching to choosing better manufacturers that provide their workers with healthier and safer working environment and pay them a liveable wage. Although it can take years to finally implement more sustainable practices and methods brand can no longer afford to make minimal effort to better their environmental impact and turn a blind eye to the unethical practices. These are some fashion brands that I’ve learnt so far who are committed to bettering their environmental impact……..

The brand offers a tailoring service to alter or repair any of the brands denim clothing to ensure they last a lifetime. Levi’s is also continuously trying to improve their environmental footprint, for instance by 2025 the brand is determined to only be using sustainably sourced cotton, using 100% renewable energy in their manufacturing facilities and lessening their greenhouse gas emissions by 40% along their whole supply chain.
